Lithiasis is defined as the development of stones in the kidney, ureters –ducts connecting the kidney and the bladder–, bladder, or urethra (duct connecting the bladder with the outside) which cause pain –renal colics– and urinary bleeding, and may damage kidney function ultimately.
Lithiasis treatment requires an accurate diagnosis using image-guided tests such as X-ray, ultrasonography, CT-scan-urography and/or Magnetic MRI.
