In addition to these biopsies, intraoperative studies are also performed during surgery, where the pathologist provides a diagnosis that guides the surgeon&#8217;s decisions in real time (known as intraoperative biopsies).<\/p><p>Furthermore, pathological anatomy is responsible for the study of cytologies from effusions and punctures, with gynecological cytologies being the most frequent, particularly for cervical cancer screening.<\/p><p>Finally, necropsies (autopsies) are also conducted on fetuses with malformations or other diseases who were stillborn before delivery, in order to
